I've been looking for Diane (LaBossiere) Gilboe for many years. We were best friends all through high school and as neighbors. If anyone knows how to locate Diane and Jack Gilboe, that would be great. Thanks. Madge (Dickerson) Clinkenbeard

Great idea! Would have been great to take the 77 to a show at the Edgefield when it was still concert season. The long routes are really fascinating to me (though it's hard to decide what to include from such long routes!).

check out Line 77, one of the longer ones in the system. Towards the eastern end, where we live, you can hop off near McMenamin's Edgefield for a brewski. Since it also goes out to NW (Montgomery Park), you'd be near a couple of brew pubs there. Just *hic* sayin' :-)

Great Article! As many of the other, I also am related to Margaret, she is my cousin and the Northland was a staple to many of us wanting to share, have a night out, etc. Oh and the Moose,,,I believe he's worn quite a few hats in his day as well, just like Margaret has. She has always been quite a lady, mom, sister, aunt, cousin, boss, and on. Only good things to say. I am in Florida since 1982 so Jackman was only visited to lay my Mom/Dad to rest in 2005/2006. Hopefully a future trip can be planned and surely visit to the Northland is a must!!! Also must have some "poutine"!

I remember asking my aunt Margaret, "Who does the bouncing at the Northland?" She replied, "I do." I am thinking you have got to be kidding she is five-seven wearing high heels and weighing less than 140. She placed her index and middle fingers on the side of my neck and it felt like my head was placed on a pillow after a long day. It was an act of will-power to remain standing, for those who have hostility they have no chance with Margaret. Margaret made Spock look foolish.

I'm Landa's sister and also Sherby Paradise's daughter. Year after year, as soon as school was out (for my teacher/father and all of us girls), Mom (Agnes Jane Haggan Paradise) & Dad would pack up the car with kids, dogs, racoons, gerbils and other assorted animals and head for Maine. We never left until a few days before school was about to start in September. It was important to my father that we learn to understand his love for Jackman, and especially Long Pond, where he built a summer camp just below the last home the Paradises had in Long Pond, until they started moving back, of course. Margaret's father, Armand Pomerleau was a very special honored guest at our family reunions and was even "formally adopted" by the Paradise clan. Thanks, Margaret and Gary, for keeping the Northland tradition alive.

Of course I have memories of the Northland and am always thankful it is still there when I visit each summer. I enjoyed reading about my father Sherby Paradise. It is so wonderful to read about his antics and storytelling. He loved Jackman for all of the reasons stated in this article and whenever I am there I know he is there where he told us he would never leave. I still expect to see him with his many brothers at the horseshoe pit, pool table or on a bar stool whenever I walk in.
Thank you Margaret and Gary for continuing to keep the Northland alive for locals and people visiting.
