The thing about L.A. before you even land is the lights. Everywhere. Like a circuit board. Beneath or at least near each is a story, a life, a world. Only a glance and I’m reminded of that. In recent weeks I’ve been straying from that, and know I’ve posted a number of personal reflection-styled posts. While I haven’t heavily publicized L@L I know I’ve mentioned it to a few people and have started getting the word out a bit further. As this week’s “Seen This Week” mentioned, since Friday I’ve been in Portland, Oregon. While here, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with a number of old friends, beloved members of my family and a city [...] While I put off thinking of a snappier title for my weekly collections of images seen out and about, I thought I’d post a few images from quite a distance out (at least compared to my day to day around L.A.). Black and warm, on a gray rainy day like this, with books piling around me (alright, I guess instance I’m looking at newspapes and transcripts and doing so in a virtual sense — thank you USC Libraries and your various databases), it’s a welcome companion.
